RV TIPS & TRICKS

Get your RV Ready for Fall Adventures

Cooler temps, no crowds, and those amazing colours – what’s not to love about the Fall? Yes, the Labour Day weekend is traditionally summer’s last hurrah, but the Fall has its own special magic.

It’s a season to be savoured, so don’t pack in your RV just quite yet, but before heading out on a fall adventure, you need to make a few adjustments for the change of seasons.

Follow these simple steps and make it an adventure to remember!

Bring the warm blankets

We’ll start with the obvious – extra layers for the bedroom. Swap out your summer bedding for warm sheets, a heavier quilt, and extra throw blankets

Re-stock the pantry

Change of season, change in menu. You’ll want to substitute the iced tea for hot chocolate and add some hearty soups and your favourite comfort foods.

Better yet,  try one of our recipes. https://rvcare.ca/blog/cooking-and-recipes/skillet-camping-recipe-favourites/

Enjoy the colours even more with a great cup of coffee in a spill-proof mug to keep it warm longer!

Prepare your water system for cold weather

Burst pipes are definitely a buzz-kill when RVing. Water freezing in your plumbing lines or holding tank is the very last thing you want to happen, so if the temperatures start to dip near the freezing point, winterize your water lines with RV antifreeze. If your site has hookups, invest in a heated water hose.

Back-up heating

Bring an electric space heater as an extra heating source or as a backup in case you run out of propane. Electric blankets are also another terrific alternative to staying warm at night.

Add vent insulators

We highly recommend equipping your RV with vent cushions. Made with inexpensive foam, they insulate your vents and significantly reduce heat loss, keeping you warm and toasty on chilly nights..

Add more light

Counter the waning hours of daylight with a string of festive awning lights. They emit a lovely, cozy glow, and for some flickering magic without the danger, bring along a few flameless LED candles.

Of course, there’s no better expert and source than at your local RV Care dealer. Head in to find everything you need to get your RV ready for a trip to remember this fall. Our directory will help you find your nearest RV Care dealer.
